A:  On Holidays when the University is officially closed, only fire lanes, handicapped spaces, service vehicle spaces, and reserved parking spaces will be enforced.  This does not apply to student-only holidays and breaks (the University is open for business), during which all permit and metered parking areas will be enforced.

A:  All fines will be assessed against the vehicle owner as listed in the state vehicle registration records.  Non-payments will eventually be turned over to the Attorney General office for collections.

Q:  How long do I have to file an appeal?

A:  Appeals on violations must be submitted within 10 calendar days of  the date the citation was issued.

Q:  How will I receive a response on my citation appeal?

A:  The Parking Appeals Committee will deliver their decision via email.  Results can also be viewed when logged into personal MyBGSU accounts under Manage My Parking.

Q:  I am often unable to locate a valid parking space.  Can I appeal my ticket?

A:  The purchase of a parking permit does not guarantee a parking space.  When parking on campus, bring a map, familiarize yourself with parking options and always have a backup plan if your first lot choice is full.

Q:  My hang tag permit was lying on the dashboard.  Why did I receive a citation for ‘Failure to Display Valid Permit’?

A:  This is not considered proper display.  Hang tags must hang from the rear view mirror facing forward so the letters and graphics are visible below the tinted portion of your windshield.  If hanging your permit from your rear view mirror is not an option, Parking Services can help to provide another solution.

Q:  While I was parked on campus, my vehicle was booted.  What do I do?

A:  Contact Parking Services at (419) 372-2776 during business hours to arrange for boot removal.  All fines and fees must be paid in full prior to boot removal.

A:  Contact Parking Services at (419) 372-2776 during business hours to request a tow release.  At all other times, contact the BGSU Police Department at (419) 372-2346.  Vehicles will not be released from the towing company’s impound lot with proper authorization from Parking Services or the BGSU Police Department.

Q:  How much will it cost to reclaim my impounded car?

A:  The tow fee charged is from the private towing company, and charges may vary.  Aside from the citation which resulted in the tow, BGSU does not assess an additional tow fee.
