Other Costs

 Application Fee -- Graduate -- $30.00 (non-refundable) to be paid when application for admission to grad school is submitted.

 Application Fee -- Undergraduate -- $40.00 (non-refundable) to be paid when application for admission is submitted.

 Art Fees -- Please consult with appropriate college office for specific fees assessed for art majors for five or more hours of registration.

 Audit Credit -- Charged at same per-hour rate as credit class registration.

 Automobiles -- Within 48 hours of the beginning of classes each semester, students must register their vehicles at Parking Services, 104 N. Commons. The cost is $100 per year. $25.00 Evening Registration. For further information, please contact Parking Services, (419) 372-2776.

 BGSU Estimated Fees --In cases where students with on-campus housing have not yet registered for classes, estimated fees, which are billed at actual full-time, are added to their account. These fees are due on the indicated due date. Estimated fees will be credited and actual fees added at the time registration occurs.

 Clinical Lab Fee -- All teacher education majors are assessed a $10 clinical lab fee.

 Course Fees -- Assessed in some courses with special costs associated with instruction. Courses with fees are noted in course descriptions. The student is held responsible for lost or damaged apparatus and for material wasted in laboratory classes. The student pays for all materials used in making articles or items that become personal property.

 Credit by Examination -- $80 for each special examination.

 Driver Education Fee -- $25 for KNS-461; $20 for KNS-462

 Excess Credit Fee -- $50 per credit hour for each hour over 18 each semester through Fall Semester 2009.  $150 per credit hour for each hour over 18 effective Spring Semester 2010.   No student is allowed to register for more than 18 hours without written permission from his or her college dean. This permission must be submitted to the Office of Registration and Records, 110 Administration Building.

 Health Insurance Coverage -Students taking eight or more credit hours on the main campus will be required to have health insurance coverage. This does not apply to students at BGSU Firelands or distance learning students. This requirement is a change from the voluntary program, which was previously in place for domestic undergraduate students; however, it is not a change for international students or graduate students. Under the new “hard waiver” program, students will be required to have health insurance coverage that meets a basic minimum set by the University, provide that information to the University and sign a waiver to that effect. If they do not have basic minimum coverage, they must purchase the University’s Student Health Insurance Plan. The charge for the University student health coverage will automatically be assessed for the entire year unless the student provides proof of insurance to the following areas:

 Installment Payment Plan Enrollment Fees -- Enrollment fee for Fall semester (4 payments) and Spring semester (5 payments) is $35.00 per semester.  Summer enrollment fee is $25 (3 payments).  Enrollment must be completed online each semester.  

 Installment Payment Plan Late Payment Fee -- A $30.00 fee will be assessed for each partial or full payment made after the due date of each installment payment and every subsequent month in which the account remains delinquent.

 Late Payment Fee -- Beginning with the first official day of classes, a late payment fee of $100.00 may be charged  to those students who have not paid in full or made payment arrangements by the first official day of classes each semester they are registered.

 Late Registration Fee -- In addition to the late payment fee, the Registrar's Office assesses a late registration fee as follows:

$25.00 -- 8th day of classes through the 14th
$50.00 -- 15th day of classes through the 44th
$75.00 -- 45th day of classes and thereafter

 Matriculation Fee -- All new main-campus undergraduate, degree-seeking students are assessed a one-time $100 matriculation fee.

 Music Fees -- See College of Musical Arts

 Physical Education Course Fees -- Please consult that department for particular current course fees. These fees vary according to specific activities of the course.

 Recreational Sports Facilities -- For unlimited access to all Recreational Sports Facilities (Rec Center, Field House) a student must pay the maximum per semester general fee ($633 for Fall '08) of which $90 is the recreational sports fee. Part time students contribute $9 per credit hour to the recreational sports fee. To gain full access to these facilities, a part time student must pay, directly to the Rec Center, the remaining difference in the per hour general fee contribution.

 Registration Fee -- An $8 registration fee will be automatically added to the student's Bursar account each semester a student is registered for classes.

 Residence Hall Technology/Laundry Fee --$150 (see Residence Hall and Meal Plan Rates).

 Return Check Service Charge -- $30 will be assessed for each check returned by the bank.

 Service Charges -- Service charges will be assessed each month to those accounts not paid by the official due dates to help offset additional billing and collection costs.  Click here for service charge assessment amounts.

 Student Legal Service Option -- A $7 fee is automatically assessed to main campus students' bursar accounts each semester they are enrolled in and billed for classes.   Although participation is encouraged, students may choose to opt out of the Legal Services Program each semester.  Effective November 2009, for Spring Semester 2010, students must log in to my.bgsu, click on "Optional Fees," complete the waiver form (with the opt out selection) and click save if s/he wishes to opt out and have the fee credited to his/her bursar account.   The fee adjustment should be reflected on the account within 24 hours.  A student must opt out and cancel the fee by the end of the second week of each term.

 Student Teaching Laboratory Fee -- $5 per credit hour, per course.

The Board of Trustees reserves the right to make any changes or adjustments in fees when such changes are deemed necessary.
