Faculty and Staff:

I wanted to share with you this message that we’ve sent to students to outline the enforcement of an existing policy regarding the payment of tuition and fees.

A committee composed of representatives from the Divisions of Student Affairs, Finance and Administration, and Enrollment Management drafted the new procedure that changed the dates by which students must take care of their financial obligations to BGSU prior to the beginning of each semester.

In recent years, students with overdue bursar balances were permitted to attend classes and move into residence halls. In some cases, this resulted in students’ classes being cancelled for non-payment well into the semester, and in a few instances, students had to move out of their residence halls. We want to eliminate this disruption for our students.

Just as importantly, we also want to make sure that our students and their families have a clear understanding of the costs of their education and are aware of the financial assistance and resources that are available.

Staff from the Office of the Bursar, Student Financial Aid, and the Office of Residence Life will continue to work together to ensure that all available financial resources and payment options are considered and explained to our families to help them meet their financial obligations.

These efforts are a key part of our new retention strategy and will be communicated and reinforced to both new and returning students throughout the summer.

Best regards,

Rodney Rogers
