The BGSU Bookstore was the first in Ohio to offer the rental textbooks as an option beginning with the pilot program in the spring of 2008. In addition to new, used, and possibly eBooks, Rental textbooks are made available when qualifying criteria are met, including a four semester commitment from a department to use the same edition of the book. 

These books are rented at 40% of the new book price, saving the student up front out of pocket expense. Students can highlight in the books as if they owned them and intend to sell at buyback. When the book is returned by the due date, in good condition, there is no other cost. Failure to return by the due date, or returned in unusable condition, the student is then liable for a replacement book.
