Over 75 Years of Service

Integrated into the campus fabric that is Bowling Green State University, the BGSU Bookstores have proudly served the academic and other needs of the BGSU students, faculty, staff as well as members of the local community for over seventy-five years.  Click here for more information about the Bookstore’s long tradition and history of service to BGSU.

In addition, the Bookstore is a self-sustaining auxiliary of BGSU which receives no central subsidy from the state or institution and in fact, has a long history of reinvestment in the university with annual income, including the establishment of diverse scholarship programs partially funded by an internal endowment of over $1.0 million.  A portion of sales support the Bowen-Thompson Student Union and all net income is invested in improvements that benefit the campus and community.

The mission of the BGSU owned and operated Bookstores is to be “the one source for collegiate retail services that exceeds diverse community needs by advancing learning and spirit through value, convenience, and innovation.”  In addition, the focused intent of the stores to stay current with collegiate retail industry trends and anticipate changes in customer needs is represented by the Bookstore’s vision of being “one step ahead” and the University’s core values are embraced in everyday decisions.

The Bookstore mission and vision are advanced by providing the most vibrant used textbook program serving BGSU, as well as merchandise and services at the lowest possible prices consistent with sound business practices.  In addition to all required and recommended course materials, a diverse selection of general reading and reference books, BGSU spirit merchandise, school supplies and technology products reflects the wide variety of backgrounds and interests that make Bowling Green State University a world class institution.

The BGSU Bookstores are represented by the flagship “BGSU Bookstore” located in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union, "The Peregrine Shop" convenience Store (also in the Student Union), and "The Firelands Bookstore" located at the BGSU Firelands campus in Huron.

Because it would be difficult to stay current with industry changes and anticipate evolving customer needs, the BGSU Bookstores are proud members of numerous industry associations, including the National Association of College Stores (NACS),  the Independent College Bookstores Association (ICBA)and the Ohio Association of College Stores (OACS).   Members of the Bookstore team are actively involved in these associations, often in a leadership capacity, as well as numerous other industry groups.
