Faculty Book Adoptions
Department Coordinators can click on the Faculty button and access the screen to enter their instructors text selections. By entering the term, course and call numbers the Department Coordinators can access past term book history. If the same text is being reused a simple click will ensure the accuracy needed.

When the adoption is picked up on the Bookstore side, an automatic response is sent back to the Department Coordinator. The response states the class the adoption was for, the ISBN, Title, Author, and whether the book is required or optional.

The online adoption process is the easiest and most accurate way to spend in the next terms text requests.

Faculty Center Network
The FCN provides a one-step resource for faculty to review textbooks and make informed decisions about textbook adoptions. Faculty can search or browse the bibliographic database of over 225,000 titles, review detailed information about the book, and create an adoptions list from the site.

The FCN is a great tool for you to enhance relations with your faculty as well as enjoy improved accuracy in the textbook ordering process. This is an exciting advancement and one that will make your responsibility easier in the textbook adoptions process.

Faculty Authors
The University Bookstore has a wide selection of BGSU Faculty Authors. Located on the second floor in the trade book section, you can find a wide variety of titles from the sciences, to popular culture, to history.

The Bookstore is pleased to offer these titles that represent terrific faculty that we have here on campus, and we are always looking for new titles.

Digital Textbooks
The University Bookstore at BGSU is participating in the digital textbook program for a second semester after an initial project launch in August, 2005.

The fall semester pilot was initiated late, limiting student orientation to this new alternative product and resulting in minimal sales. Despite this fact, the reaction from students, faculty, campus administrators and the public media was overwhelmingly positive, recognizing the effort to be innovative and test new alternatives designed to save students money and add value.

Last semester, only 20 titles were available for BGSU classes, and students saved 33% off the printed new book price. For the spring 2006 semester, the title list has doubled and students now save 40%.

In addition, "Universal Digital Textbooks" can now be purchased on-line at a special BGSU-specific web site (direct.mbsbooks.com/bgsu.htm). Many new titles are available, and the number of collegiate stores participating in the pilot program has grown.

We are pleased to have the opportunity to participate in this program because of the potential opportunity to lower the high cost of textbooks for BGSU students by offering the digital textbook alternative.

Electronic "desk copies" are available upon request. Minimum technical specifications for downloading the desk copy and other product information is available at: http://bn.digitaltextbooks.net/ebn/home.php

We are excited to participate on the front lines of developing new delivery systems for course materials and offer BGSU students an alternative, money saving option at the same time.

Participating faculty, students and bookstores will be provided an opportunity to give input to suggest changes for the program in the future in a formal survey after the start of the semester.
