BGSU on Main opened in the fall of 2004 as a retail store associated with the University Bookstores, the institutionally operated collegiate retailer on the BGSU main campus.

Located at 133 South Main Street in the downtown area of the City of Bowling Green, BGSU on main is an extension of the retail services offered on campus. BGSU on Main is located on the east side of Main Street, just one block south of Wooster Street. There is a back entrance at the east side of the building, conveniently located to the municipal metered parking lot. BGSU operates the University Bookstore, a 21,000 square foot full service retail operation including the Peregrine Shop, an extended hour convenience store, both located in the new Bowen-Thompson Student Union.

BGSU on Main carries a full line of insignia clothing for men, women, and children. There is also a large selection of insignia products such as glassware, jewelry, desk accessories, neckwear, headwear, pendants, and more. A centralized ticketing system implemented at BGSU on Main for purchase of tickets to athletic events. BGSU on Main offers some BGSU "signature" food items such as the famous coconut cream pie, a small selection of snacks and drinks, as well as Dietsch's ice cream from Findlay. Additional services include a "Falcon Express" merchandise transfer service that makes available the much larger inventory of the University Bookstore and Peregrine Shop to any BGSU on Main customer for whom downtown shopping is more convenient. A daily shuttle transfers merchandise between the stores.

BGSU on Main also acts as a BGSU "goodwill ambassador" and provider of information for other campus entities including, but not limited to Admissions, Alumni, Athletics, Continuing and Extended Education, Graduate College, Music, Parking, and Theatre.
