1970- Four students are killed by National Guardsmen at Kent State University during anti-war protests. Bowling Green is the only public college or university in the state to remain open that spring. The Gospel Choir is formed on campus.

1971 - Offenhauer Towers are completed. The Campus Fact Line answers its first call.

1975- BGSU is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records when 3,376 students join hands to form the longest snake dance ever.

1976 - The Little Red Schoolhouse is moved to campus from its original site in Norwalk, Ohio.

1978 - The University Honors Program is established.

1979 - The Student Recreation Center and the Moore Musical Arts Center open.
