1961

Memorial Hall, with 5,500 seats, was officially opened and dedicated.
The University's four branches located in Bryan, Fostoria, Fremont and Sandusky had a 25 percent increase in enrollment during first semester.
Alumni returned on Homecoming Day and saw BG defeat Kent State University before the largest crowd in BG football history.
16 members of the Cal Poly football team were killed in a deadly crash at the Toledo Airport after playing BGSU. More than $8,000 in money and clothing was donated to the Cal Poly fund by BGSU organizations.
The first annual alumni awards dinner was held on the eve of Homecoming weekend.
