  • Presidential contender John Kennedy visited campus.

  • University celebrated its 50th anniversary.

  • Eva Marie Saint and Dr. Paul D. Woodring were selected to receive the University's first annual Distinguished Alumnus Award by the Alumni Association.

  • Kenn Krouse, director of Alumni Affairs, designated January 20, 1960 (or the third Wednesday of every January) as Key Day.

  • Home economics majors represented an increase of more than 40 percent over any single year since 1955.

  • WBGU's operative power was increased by the Federal Communications Commission from 10 to 1,000 watts giving it a greater broadcast on a frequency of 88.1 megacycles.

  • The football team complied its greatest year in football as it notched the first perfect record in the school's history and also was accorded the tremendous honor of being named the best small college team in the nation.
