Pursue your dreams.  Download the 2008 Alumni Laureate Scholarship application.

The Alumni Laureate Scholars (ALS) program began in 2002 with a $500,000 gift from the BGSU Alumni Board and an additional $500,000 as a challenge match for gifts from other alumni. ALS provided a merit-based scholarship program that was not previously available to students and an opportunity for alumni to give back to BGSU with time, talent or funds.

The scholarship currently covers the cost of any educational expense up to the cost of tuition, is renewable for 4 years, and includes a $1,200 book award each year. The program allows students to take part in leadership workshops, community engagement activities, and meetings with university, community and alumni leaders and volunteers. The ALS program also includes monthly cohort meetings, one-on-ones with the program adviser and group service projects.

To be considered, students must be accepted to BGSU as first-year freshmen, have a 3.5 grade point average in high school, an ACT score at or above 27, or a score of 1200 or above on the SAT. Applicants must also complete an essay, document their leadership experience and be recommended for the scholarship.

Each year, scholarships are given to students who have demonstrated skills in leadership, scholarship and citizenship, excelled in and outside the classroom and shown personal integrity, breadth of involvement and achievement.

Currently there are 17 students in the program, representing diverse academic and co-curricular interests. Students must maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, participate in various alumni activities and complete community service hours to remain in good standing in the program.
