 DUANE WHITMIRE Member, Alumni Association Board of Directors Term: 2006 - 2010
Duane Whitmire retired from Bowling Green State University in 2004 as director of the Student Technology Center and part-time associate
professor of computer science. He received a bachelor’s degree in earth science (1968) and a master’s degree in geography
(1971) both from BGSU, and a doctoral degree in higher education (1976) from University of Toledo.
He was former chair of the Administrative Staff Council at BGSU, past president of the Western Lakes Chapter of the Help Desk
Institute and a former member of the College and University Systems Engineering Editorial Committee. He is a contributing
author for Windows Academy and Mac Academy with over 40 computer-related articles. He also is a content specialist for six
technology-oriented books. Previously, he was an administrative board member at First University Methodist Church and former
vice president of the (Bowling Green High School) Bobcat Booster Club.
Duane has recently returned to the University on a half-time basis to be the Director of the new Student Money Management
Services. He and his wife, Diane, who received an Honorary Alumnus Award in 2002, have three sons, all of whom are BGSU graduates.
