Muriel Hutchinson Strebe ’51, ’65, of Redford, Michigan is pictured with her book award recipient, Elizabeth Bell '08, at
the College of Education and Human Development’s Honors and Awards Convocation.
Elizabeth plans to graduate in December 2008 with a degree in Middle Childhood Education with concentrations in math and science.
Elizabeth is the oldest of six children and says “the scholarship really means a lot to me and my family.” In addition to
being a full-time student, Elizabeth works as a waitress at a local Bowling Green restaurant.
The Awards Convocation gave Elizabeth and Muriel an opportunity to meet and get to know one another. Muriel created the award
as a tribute to her parents, Verna and Frank Hutchinson, who generously sacrificed in providing her the opportunity of “a
wonderful education at Bowling Green State University.” Muriel is enjoying her retirement, travels frequently and is an avid
bird watcher. In addition to establishing the book award during her lifetime, Muriel has also included BGSU in her estate
plan. BGSU is proud to carry on her name into perpetuity.
