Dear BGSU Class of 1957,
Betty and I write you today to discuss the progress of the 1957 class gift. As you know our class embarked on a quest to raise
scholarship funds for our 50th reunion gift. Currently, we have pledges and gifts totaling $35,800. If you have given, thank
you. Your commitment has allowed us to build great momentum for this very important project.
Betty and I are passionate about supporting students and we know that this campaign can make a significant impact on BGSU.
In order to encourage each of us to make our best gift to the campaign, we are pledging our gift as a challenge to the class.
We will match dollar for dollar up to $20,000 every new gift or gift increase. For example, if you give $500, we will contribute
$500 or a $250 gift given once a year for the next 4 years would mean $2000 for the campaign.
Please remember that your gift is tax deductible and that each dollar is appreciated and needed by future scholarship recipients.
You can pledge online, or you can also send a check payable to BGSU Foundation, Inc. and specify 1957 Reunion Class Gift Fund
in the memo section of the check. You may also pay by phone with a credit card by calling Ken McIntyre at (419) 372-7699.
We’re hoping to have 100% participation within our class; the most important thing is that you give generously at a level
with which you feel comfortable.
We anxiously await the rest of our class getting involved and making history by establishing the first endowed class of 1957
gift*. Don’t forget to make your plans to be at the Reunion on October 13 & 14, 2006. Everyone who pledges will be recognized
at the reunion brunch on Saturday, September 24. See you at the Reunion.
*At the 40th reunion we attempted to raise $30,000 for an endowed student scholarship. Our effort raised only approx. $5,000.
The moneys raised for the 40th campaign has been moved to this Campaign.
Sincerely,
Herbert and Betty Hipp 1957 Class Treasurer & Reunion Committee member
P.S. At the end of June the BGSU student callers will begin contacting us 1957ers who have not yet made a pledge to the campaign.
They are looking forward to speaking with you!
