UPAS-Bridge Experiences
What is a bridge experience?
The UPAS experience is enhanced by a variety of supervised “bridge” experiences that ease the transition from high school to college. Some are more formal than others. All UPAS students must participate in one “bridge” course or experience, chosen from an approved list including, but not limited to UNIV 1200 (Learning Behavior Assessments), BGSU 1000, RESC 2000 (for those living in the Chapman Community at Kohl) or the First Year Success Series. Not all options are available during all terms.
What counts as a bridge experience?
Options include:
- Learning Behavior Assessments (UNIV 1200): the Coursework Learning Behavior scale will be used by students in this class to measure and modify their overall learning behavior.
- Chapman Community at Kohl Hall (RESC 2000): a 1 credit hour service/learning opportunity for students who choose to live in the Chapman Learning Community.
- First Year Success Series (FYSS): a series of personal and academic development seminars offered throughout the fall semester. Sessions are selected in consultation with a UPAS advisor.
