What is an OWL, and what is it doing here in Falcon territory?
OWL is an acronym for Online Writers Lab, a service offered at many Writing Centers/Labs. However, at BGSU, OWL is also another
name for The Online Connection @ Your Writing Center! Through this valuable campus resource, busy student writers, who are
unable to come to the lab in person, can still find the writing assistance they need by meeting virtually with a writing consultant!
If you think that this resource is something that would benefit you, read on to see the steps you can take to put The Online
Connection to work for you.
Plan ahead! Providing quality feedback on texts takes time! Therefore, expect a 48-hour turn-around time to receive our comments.
An Online Session lasts an hour, same as our in-person consultations, and are second in priority to in-person consultations,
especially when the Writing Center's schedule is booked.
Also note that this service is not available on weekends, holidays, or during University breaks.
Note: Students, especially graduate students, with essays longer than 6-8 pages are strongly encouraged to schedule an in-person
appointment to discuss their essays. Longer essays will be subject to several submissions, and writers should allow for a
72-hour response time. Additionally, we reserve the right to decline an online consultation in favor of an in person session
if it suits the learning process of the student writer.
Would you like to submit your essay for an on-line consultation?
