Colwell named to 30 most influential education deans

Brad ColwellDr. Brad Colwell, dean of the College of Education and Human Development, has been named among the 30 most influential deans of colleges of education in the United States by Mometrix Test Preparation.

As part of its mission to help prepare students for the workforce, the company is “showcasing how the leaders have had an invaluable impact not only on the field of education as a whole, but also on the lives of the future teachers of America whom they have shepherded through their programs.”

In compiling the list, Mometrix researchers analyzed a number of factors including state and national awards and honors, education program rankings, individual degree program rankings, and even the level of pay received by graduated teachers from the schools examined.

Dr. Brad Colwell began his stint as Dean in July 2010 and since then has been instrumental in bringing BGSU’s College of Education into the conversation regarding the best schools of education in the country. Niche.com ranked BGSU as the 9th best school for students looking to obtain a degree in middle school education and College Factual ranked the school as the 4th best in the US for getting an education degree online. Dr. Colwell also currently serves as Chair of the Ohio Deans Compact on Exceptional Children, which aims to promote improved scholastic results among the children and youth of Ohio. He served a one-year term as the president of the national Education Law Association in 2010 and a three-year stint as a board member of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.
