Opening Weekend

Welcome to the start of your BGSU career!

Opening Weekend is a required event for new BGSU students and serves as a comprehensive introduction to the academic and social environment at the university. Throughout Opening Weekend, you’ll meet other new students, faculty and staff while engaging in a variety of specialized academic programs and interactive events on campus.  Your Friday programming includes your first academic requirements - a meeting with faculty and staff from your college and the first class of your semester. It is a requirement for you to attend!

Throughout the weekend, you’ll engage in small groups led by upper-class BGSU students known as Opening Weekend Group Leaders (OWGLs) who will share the ins and outs of being and becoming a successful BGSU student. OWGLs will introduce you to the many resources and services available to you as a student and answer your questions as you prepare to start classes on Monday. Whether you are living on campus or commuting from home, Opening Weekend is essential for your transition to BGSU. As an incoming BGSU student, attendance at Opening Weekend events is one of our first expectations of you. We look forward to seeing you Thursday, August 18.
