String Camp - June 12-17

String Camp WEB

Are you a string student looking for a challenging atmosphere where you can improve on your skills? Join us this summer for the SMI String Camp at BGSU! As a violin, viola, cello or bass player, you will receive individual guidance from members of the talented string faculty at BGSU. Each student is assigned to a small chamber ensemble whether a duo, trio, quartet or even larger. A typical day could include small ensembles, an individual lesson, seminars, guest artists and student/ faculty performances. Students will have the opportunity to perform in the final Chamber Music Gala Concert.

Honors String Quartet

Advanced students are encouraged to apply for the Honors String Quartet, a select group of two violins, one viola and one cello, who receive specialized coaching with our faculty, a full scholarship, including housing and meals. Students wishing to apply for the Honors String Quartet must register and pay in full for the camp and submit a CD of a solo performance by May 22, 2015 to Professor Matthew Daline, College of Musical Arts, Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, OH 43403. If selected, the student will receive a full refund of their fees.

String camp is designed for students ages 12-18 with at least one year of middle school and/or high school string instruction.  For any exceptions, please contact the director of the camp. On the first day of camp, students should prepare an etude and/or solo for placement in ensembles.

Scholarships are available to help defray the cost of the camp. The Dorothy M. Price Scholarship requires an application form. Please check the Scholarships page for more information.
