Musical Theatre Workshop - July 12, 2014


Spend a complete day involved in Musical Theatre!  You will learn to incorporate acting with singing, hone your audition skills, and improvise !  Then sit back, relax and enjoy Broadway's Next Hit Musical! These workshops are open to a those who are at least entering 9th grade in the Fall but college age students and adults are also welcome.

BROADWAY'S NEXT HIT MUSICAL | 7:30 p.m. | Donnell Theatre

The Hysterical Broadway's Next Hit Musical is the only unscripted theatricals awards show.  Master improvisers gather made up, hit song suggestions from the audience and create a spontaneous evening of music, humor and laughter. The audience votes for their favorite song and watches as the cast turns it into a full blown improvised musical ­ complete with memorable characters, witty dialogue, and plot twists galore.

ACTING A SONG | 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Bring more dynamic power to every song you sing by enhancing your vocal technique with acting skills. Tools for releasing tension, focusing your physical, vocal and emotional energy, clarifying intent, and being fully present will be shared as we explore ways to make a song your own.

LUNCH (provided) | 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Enjoy a special pizza lunch while watching videoclips of singing actors and discussing how their acting skills are strengthening their performances.

Join the cast of Broadway's Next Hit Musical in a fun and innovative workshop to encourage spontaneity in your performing as you play through improvisation.

AUDITION WORKSHOP | 3:30 ­ 5:30 p.m.

Now it is time to put together the skills you have been learning throughout the day into a powerful audition package. Tips for introducing yourself, transitioning into song, presenting yourself more effectively, and overcoming audition nerves will be covered as you get up and sing

DINNER | 5:30-7:30 p.m. 

Dinner on your own. There are many restaurants within walking distance to the campus.
