Flute Camp - June 15-20, 2014
Are you a high school flutist interested in a challenging atmosphere where you can improve your skills? Join us this summer for the SMI Flute Camp. You will receive guidance from Conor Nelson, Assistant Professor of Flute at BGSU and Elise Roy, a phenomenal contemporary music specialist. A typical day includes private lessons, seminars, master classes, flute choirs, guest artist or student/faculty performances. Classes will cover topics such as breathing, sound, articulation, and technique. Each student will have the opportunity to perform.
Flute Camp is for students entering grades 9-12. Students should prepare an etude or solo for placement on the first day of camp.
Students interested in being part of the Honors Recital are encouraged to audition to perform a solo piece of their choosing for the final recital. Students selected for this honor must apply ahead of time by submitting a link to a recording on YouTube (audio only is acceptable) to firstname.lastname@example.org by May 15, 2014 to be considered. Please indicate the composer and title of the work.
Recording need not include piano accompaniment.
Scholarships are available to help defray the cost of the camp. The Dorothy M. Price Scholarship requires an application form. Please check the Scholarships page for more information.
