Welcome to BGSU’s Summer Music Institute (SMI)! SMI features 9 different week long intensive camp sessions designed to improve your playing, learn new skills and meet new friends – all on a college campus. Students will work with BGSU Music Faculty and Guest Artists who will challenge and inspire!
To better enjoy your experience, here are some important tips.
Campers can choose to be a resident or commuter student.
Resident students must purchase meals (included in camp fees). Commuter students have the choice to purchase the meal plan, bring their own food, or be prepared to pay for their own meals on campus. Commuters who bring their own food cannot bring it inside the dining halls on campus.
Check in for camps is between 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. the Sunday of camp. Specific schedules for each camp will be available closer to camp
A registration is considered cancelled ONLY if notification is sent
via email to the Administrative Director of the Summer Music Insitute,
Susan Hoekstra at firstname.lastname@example.org by the responsible parent/sponsor
who signs the agreement.
Camp fees, excluding the non-refundable $ 50 administration fee, are fully refundable if cancellation is received at least 14 days (2 weeks) prior to the start of the camp that you are registered for.
Cancellations received less than 14 days prior are subject to the following:
- No refund on resident costs which includes housing and meals
- No refund on meal costs if you are a commuter
A $ 75 refund on tuition
Each camp has its own performance or presentation at the end of camp, usually Friday mornings. Complete schedules for each individual camp will be available at check-in.
ALL parking passes are distributed at check-in.
Students who are residents on campus can receive a parking pass for the week that will allow them to park in the dorm parking lot.
Students who are commuters can receive a parking pass that will allow them to park in a lot near Moore Musical Arts Center. Parents who are coming to the final concert on Friday can get a parking pass that allows them to park in a lot near Moore Musical Arts Center.
All parking passes are distributed at check-in.
SMI is not responsible for reimbursing parking tickets.
