Approximately 40 graduate assistantships become available for master’s candidates each year. A list of anticipated assistantships appears below. Assistantship needs may change during the course of the year and, in some cases, more than one position vacancy may exist for one of the listings.

In addition to these assistantships some part-time positions in various areas may be available. Students may interview for assistantships/part-time positions outside of their major area.

Assistantship Information

Stipend

Current first-year nine-month contracts provide stipend from $4,328 to $8,656. In addition, students receive a full fee waiver ($15,252) and an out-of-state tuition waiver ($10,962). Total value of assistantship ranges from $31,978 to $36,306.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in music, 3.0 GPA and unconditional admission to the Graduate College. To be considered for an assistantship, candidates must present a campus interview.

Information

The College of Musical Arts at Bowling Green State University is nationally known and respected for professional degrees in music performance, education, composition, ethnomusicology, history and theory. A fully accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music, the College consists of 57 full-time faculty and over 120 graduate students. Our students enjoy working in one of the nation’s finest music facilities, the Moore Musical Arts Center. The College of Musical Arts houses the MidAmerican Center for Contemporary Music, devoted to the study and promotion of contemporary music and technology. The center builds on the internationally recognized activities of the College, presenting concerts, symposia, sponsoring research and collecting archival materials.

Location

Bowling Green State University is conveniently located 20 minutes south of Toledo, Ohio, on Interstate 75. Our region is served by the Toledo Express Airport, which is 30 minutes from campus. The campus is five hours east of Chicago, 90 minutes south of Detroit and two hours west of Cleveland.
