The 26th annual Piano Camp offers students the opportunity to study music in a stimulating environment under the tutelage of a distinguished piano faculty. This intensive program includes private and group lessons, master classes, ensemble playing, practice sessions, theory study and solo recital performances. Presentations and recitals by College of Musical Arts faculty and guests complete the activities,as well as opportunities for social fun and recreation.

There are a limited number of scholarships ($50–150), excluding the Dorothy Price Scholarship, which are not based on financial need. Please contact Dr. Satterlee at if you are interested in applying for one of these scholarships.

To participate in a master class or request longer private lessons, please send an audio or video recording of two contrasting pieces by May 28.

Meet the Faculty

Robert Satterlee, camp director, piano professor.

Cynthia Benson, piano professor.

As a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Music at Ohio State University at Lima, Michael Benson is pursuing a dual career as teacher and performer. As soloist and collaborative pianist, he has performed at the Smithsonian Institution during the International Schubert Symposium, at Steinway Hall as a winner in the Pinault Biennial International Piano Competition, and at Preston Bradley Hall on the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series heard on National Public Radio. He has presented lectures, adjudicated and performed for national and state conventions of Music Teachers National Association. During fall 2001, he taught piano, group piano and lectured on piano pedagogy at Ji Mei University in China. He holds degrees from the Rice University and the University of Texas at Austin.

Vincent Corrigan, harpsichord professor.

Ilana Iwens Kennell is a graduate of Northwestern University and the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. She has been a member of the piano faculty at the University of Toledo since 1990, and for 10 years, taught at Interlochen Arts Camp. She has taught previously at Bowling Green State University, University of Findlay, University of Wisconsin at Madison and other summer piano institutes. Kennell has worked with private students of all ages, and performed as a collaborative pianist for 35 years with musicians on all instruments and voices. She has been active as an adjudicator, clinician, performer and official accompanist for MTNA. She was named Ohio Music Teachers Association (OMTA) Nationally Certified Collegiate Teacher of 2005, for the state of Ohio.
