Multifactor Authentication

BGSU uses Multifactor Authentication (MFA) to help protect accounts, personal information, and University systems. By requiring a second form of verification in addition to a password, MFA helps prevent unauthorized access—even if a password is compromised. To help keep the BGSU community secure, all BGSU account holders are required to enroll in MFA as part of the account creation process.

Information Technology Services (ITS) recommends setting up multiple MFA methods on your account. A backup authentication method makes it easier to sign in if you lose your phone, get a new device and don’t have access to your old one, or can't use your primary MFA method

**Please do not approve MFA requests if you have not attempted to log in to a protected service. For more information review this article** 

If you receive multiple MFA prompts that you did not request, change your BGSU password immediately and contact ITS. This may mean hackers have your password and are trying to access your account.
