Unified Communications (UC)
UC Phase Four - Telephone Upgrades
Why: The new VoIP (Voice over IP) infrastructure deployed as a part of UC Phase 1 provides options for improved phones that will have display screens and video conference capabilities.
The new Cisco VoIP phones will be deployed to desktops in June and July. They will be replacing Avaya desktop phones across campus.
When: May – December 2013
What: Avaya desktop phones will be replaced with new Cisco VoIP phones. Phone installations will take place once a week throughout June and July. New phones may be placed on desktops prior to the cutover date. Old phones will be retrieved after the cutover date.
How: A deployment schedule will soon be available for reference. In person training will be offered with the PowerPoint slides being used during training being published for your reference. A quick reference guide will be placed with each new phone.
Impact: Users will want to become familiar with the features and capabilities of the new phones. Training will be offered and additional documentation (quick reference guide, button layout guide, user's guide) are available on the Cisco Phones Technology Guide web page.
