Below is information regarding Virus Protection at BGSU. There are links to documents and websites to assist you with virus
protection.
BGSU has a site license for McAfee Virus Scan (PC) and Virex (Macintosh) so we can make virus protection software freely available to all current BGSU faculty, staff, and students for use on home
or departmental computers.
Viruses traditionally have been a more significant issue on PC systems than Macintosh systems.
Students living in BGSU residence halls should contact RCC if they have a virus issue.
Q - Will I be protected from viruses by just installing a virus protection program?
A - No, a virus protection program requires frequent updates to its virus definition files. Virus protection software includes
a scan engine and virus definition or DAT files that include information about current viruses to search for on your computer.
Usually updating the DAT files can be done as an automated task.
