Spacer Advanced LDAP Settings in Eudora for Macintosh Spacer
   
 

To access the extra LDAP settings on a Mac, do the following:

  • If Eudora is running, quit the program
  • Open the Eudora application folder
    (this is usually found at Macintosh HD > Eudora or Macintosh HD > Internet > Eudora)
  • Inside the Eudora application folder, find and open the Extra Plugins folder
  • Copy the file Esoteric Settings to the Eudora Stuff folder (also found in the Eudora application folder)
  • Restart Eudora

To have LDAP return only the fields you want:

  • Do ‘ To access the extra LDAP settings on a Mac… ’ (above) first
  • Go to Special > Settings
  • Scroll down the list of icons until you come to LDAP (near the bottom of the list) and click on it
  • In the box labeled Directory Services Host enter the following:
    • ldap://ldap.bgsu.edu/dc=bgsu,dc=edu?<field name>,<field name>,etc
      • Field Names
      • cn (Full Name)
      • street (Address)
      • title (Employee Title)
      • telephonenumber (Telephone Number)
      • uid (BGSU account username)
      • mail (Email Address)
      • classification (Classification – Student, Faculty, Staff)
      • department (Department individual is in)


    Enter only the fields you want to see. The field names can be entered in any order. They will appear in the order in which you enter them.

    e.g. ldap://ldap.bgsu.edu/dc=bgsu,dc=edu?cn,telephonenumber,street,uid

    You will see:

    <Full Name>
    <Telephone Number>
    <Address>
    <BGSU E-mail Account Username>

    At the bottom of the window, make sure Display raw LDAP attribute names is unchecked.

To search by full name and BGSU account user name:

  • - Do ‘ To access the extra LDAP settings on a Mac… ’ (above) first
  • - Go to Special > Settings
  • - Scroll down the list of icons until you come to LDAP (near the bottom of the list) and click on it
  • - In the box labeled Word-wise search filter template enter the following:
    (|(cn=*^0*)(uid=*^0*))
