Setting a Eudora Auto-Reply for Macintosh |

An auto-reply message can be setup in Eudora so that any time you are out of the office for an extended period of time (vacation,
business, etc) and someone e-mails you, a message will automatically be sent back to them. In this message you can tell them
that you are out and when you will return (or whatever you would like them to know) so that they will not expect a reply to
their message until after that time.
- Open Eudora
- Create a new e-mail message (Message > New Message), leaving the 'To:' field blank
- In the body of this message, type the response that you would like the recipient to receive. E.g. I will be on vacation until
June 5th. (Or whatever you would like it to say)
- When you are finished typing the message go to File > Save As
- In the 'Name' box type in the file name you would like to save this as, and click the checkbox next to Stationary.
- Press the button labeled 'Go to Stationary Folder' and click Save.
- Close the message by clicking on the square in the top left corner of the window or by going under File > Close. Press 'Discard'
on the message box that pops up.
- Go to Window > Filters
- In the bottom left corner of the window, click 'New'.
- At the top of the window under 'Match', make sure there is a check mark in the 'Incoming' box. OUTGOING and Manual are to
be left blank.
- In the Header field, select "To:" from the popup menu.
- In the popup menu below the Header field, change "contains" to "appears," and leave the box to the right of it empty.
- Under 'Actions', in the middle of the window, choose 'Reply With' from the first drop-down menu.
- Another drop-down menu should appear to the right of Reply With. Click and choose the name of the message you just created.
- Close the 'Filters' window by clicking the square in the upper left corner of the window or by going to File > Close. Click
Save in the 'Save changes to "Filters"?' window that appears.
- Go to Special > Settings. Click on the 'Checking Mail' icon towards the top of the window. (You may need to scroll the list
to see it)
- Make sure the option 'Check for mail every ___ minutes' has a checkmark in its checkbox. Also, make sure that there is a number
other than zero (0) in the minutes box. (15 or higher is recommended)
- Towards the bottom of the window, make sure there is a check in the 'Send on check' box.
- Click OK to save the options.
- Set-up is now complete.
In order for this to work, you MUST leave your computer on and have Eudora running while you are out of the office.
To turn auto-reply off:
- Go to Window > Filters,
- Select the Filter you created earlier
- Click on the check in the box next to "Incoming" to remove it
- Close the filters window and click "save" to save changes
