Activate your BGSU E-mail Account with a Temporary ID Card
In order to activate your account, you will need to have the following:
Your BGSU ID number (the letter “P” followed by nine numbers) - found on your BGSU Temporary ID Card
Your PIN Code - found on the Authorization Codes section of the form, above your BGSU Temporary ID card. The PIN Code is only used
for logging on the first time.
Your initial password, which is made up of the following eight numbers:
The last four numbers of your BGSU ID number followed by your birth month (two digits) and your birthday (two digits)
EXAMPLE: BGSU ID number = P000123456 (use your own ID number) Birthday is January 2nd (use your own birth date information) Initial password is: 34560102 (The initial password you create as described above is used only for logging on to the account activation web site. You will
choose a new email password during the activation process - make note of any capital letters or symbols in the password.)
Log on to the Internet at any computer, using Internet Explorer 6 or Netscape 7.1 (or above).
(This is a 3-step process. In order to activate your account, you will choose a username and password; read and agree to the
“Acceptable Use” policy, and click the“registration complete” button. If you do not complete all three steps, your accounts
will not be accessible. You will know that you successfully activated your account when the BGSU home page appears.)
REMEMBER:
Write down your new username and password . Keep this information in a safe place until you have it memorized.
Your email account will be ready to use approximately one hour after you have completed the activation process. Then you can go to http://www.bgsu.edu and click the “WebMail” link to login.
Your access to the MyBGSU web portal will be enabled as soon as your email account is created. This is the account you will use to sign up for My Room & Meals, take placement tests and request and Orientation date. Then
you can go to http://www.bgsu.edu and click the “MyBGSU” link to login.
Your access to Blackboard (the eLearning server) used for course and community sites will vary. Click here for details.
