The upgrade of BGSU’s Rhythmyx Content Management System (CMS) will provide many new features for those creating and manipulating
web content. Many of the skills you have already learned about creating content for the CMS, however, have not changed.
Here is an overview of what to expect:
What’s New?
- New 2-column Java-based interface called
Content Explorer where you click on an item on the Navigation Tree (left) to bring it into view on the Display Pane (right). You also have
access to a menu bar with drop down menus.

Certified on all BGSU-supported browsers and platforms - including Internet Explorer 6.0 SP 2 for Windows and Safari 2.0.3
for Mac
- Right click (PC) or control click (Mac) to display menus
- Several methods used to access editors for
creating new content
- eWebEditPro editor replaced by Ephox

display formats for Views and Searches and

Checkout Status, State, Content Type, Content ID, etc.)
-
Move multiple content items from one state to another (e.g. group publishing)
- New
search engine that can be customized to perform various types of searches and lets you determine if you want your searches to be case sensitive
or not
- Your account retains the state it was left in the last time you logged off (in the same Community, same display format selected,
etc.)
- Can adjust the
font size, modify colors and background of Content Explorer window
- Have only View access to items in the Public state; must transition item to Quick Edit state for editing.

- Modify slots for Generic Home Page and Generic Article content items (Edit All) without opening the editor by selecting Active

(e.g. email); person clicking the URL must have authorization to view that content item on the CMS to access it
- Revisons and Audit Trail moved from Workflow submenu to View submenu
- No two content items can have the same CMS title
-
Refresh should be done within Content Explorer window
- Use Extended display format to see who has content checked out instead of a roll over on the lock icon

- Can create a
promotable version when you want to change the content but are not ready to publish it yet
-
