You will need these browser features to use Blackboard 6.

Throughout the instructions below, words that are italicized and the links are exactly as they appear on your browser's menu.

Clearing Browser Cache and Setting your Browser to Display the Current Version of the Page

  1. Click the Tools icon on the Internet Explorer's command bar  (upper right-hand corner) and choose Delete Browsing History.
  2. On the Delete Browsing History window in the Temporary Internet Files area click the Delete Files button.
  3. Click OK on the Delete Files dialog box to confirm the deletion.
  4. Now click again on the Tools icon on the Internet Explorer's command bar  (upper right-hand corner) and choose Internet Options.
  5. In general tab of the Internet Options in the Browsing History area, click on the Settings button.
  6. In the settings window, select Every time I visit the webpage and click OK .
  7. Click OK on the Internet Options window to close it.

Enabling Cookies

  1. Click Tools  (upper right-hand corner)on the Internet Explorer menu bar and select Internet Options.
  2. On the Internet Options window, select the Privacy tab.
  3. Set the Security level for this zone to Medium.
  4. Then click on the Advanced button.
  5. On the Advanced Privacy Settings dialog box that is displayed, make sure under Cookies that Override automatic cookie handling is unchecked and click on the OK button.
  6. Click OK on the Internet Options window to exit.

Enabling JavaScript

  1. Click Tools on the Internet Explorer menu bar and select Internet Options...
  2. On the Internet Options window, select the Security tab.
  3. From the list of web content zones at the top of the Security options select the internet icon.
  4. Then click on the Custom Level button.
  5. In the Security Settings window that pops up, scroll down to the item that reads Active Scripting and select the Enable option.
  6. Click on the OK button at the bottom of the Security Settings window.
  7. Click on the OK button at the bottom of the Internet Options window.
