BGSU is currently using an LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) server to store the information for the University's online directory. To search the University's online directory for a BGSU e-mail address or phone number of a BGSU faculty, staff or student, you can use any of the following:

• Using Search on BGSU's web site: http://search.bgsu.edu/
  • Mouse over the Search button at the top of the BGSU home page and other pages on the BGSU web site to display the Search People button. 
  • Use the drop menus to indicate the type of search you want to perform.

• Using your Outlook Web Access (OWA) account: http://mail.bgsu.edu
  • OWA Premium: Log in and use the Address Book in the horizontal navigation pane at the top of the window.   Enter your search information in the text box or click on the address book icon to open the Address Book.

• • Log in and use the search function at the top of every window.   The search locations on the drop menus will vary but ‘Address Book’ appears on all of them.  

• Using Outlook
  • Use the Address Book search at the top of the page,  enter a name in the search box and press Enter. 

• • Click the Address Book icon to open the Global Address List window.   Enter a name in the search box and press Go OR click the ‘Advanced Find’ link to open the Find window for an array of search options. 

• Using Entourage
  • For Directory Services, you can configure Entourage to use either the Global Address List (GAL) or Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) but both use the same search techniques.
  • Click Directory Services and enter the first name of the person in the text box next to Name starts with.  The search will start immediately and be modified as you type additional letters.  You cannot use this method to search just by last name. For other search options, click the up or down arrow to the right of the text box. 

• • Click the Search icon in the upper left corner of the window to get a pre-defined search with over 20 options to select from including last name. You can also further qualify your search with options on the menu where 'Contains' is the default.  Click Find to start the search.
