Spacer Software Distribution via BGSU Software Server Spacer

Information Technology Services maintains this software server to distribute applications on campus:

The server contains keyed/unkeyed applications software and Internet applications software. The keyed software is intended ONLY for institutionally-owned computer systems (in campus offices and computer labs). The unkeyed software includes software for which BGSU owns a site license, freeware generally available in the public domain, and some applications pre-configured for BGSU. Unkeyed software and Internet applications software is available to any current BGSU faculty, staff or student. For more information about the campus software server see Accessing the BGSU Software Server.

For most applications, an installer is available on the software server. If the installation requires a license number, the license number can be found in the read me file. After an installer is downloaded, double-clicking on the icon initiates the installation. Once the installation is successful, any installation file or files can be deleted.

Faculty and staff who need commerical software for institutionally-owned computers in campus offices can download many applications through the server. Most of these applications are keyserved. To use them, clients need an Internet connection and a  keyserver client. The system you receive for your campus office should already be set up so you can use keyed software. If you need an application for your institutionally-owned computer that you cannot find on the BGSU Software Server, you can contact the Technology Support Center at 419-372-0999 or tsc@bgsu.edu to see if it is available.
