A BGSU e-mail account is a free e-mail account available to all current and admitted BGSU students, faculty and staff. As
a member of the BGSU community, you will also need this account to get access to various online resources, including the MyBGSU
web portal. It's for this reason that your BGSU e-mail userid and password are also called your authentication userid and
password. With a Temporary ID Card If you have a temporary ID card, you can register for a BGSU e-mail account by accessing the BGSU E-mail Account Creation Page. You will need a temporary ID card and these instructions to complete the process.
With a BGSU ID Card
If you do not have a temporary ID card, you will need your BGSU ID Card to get an account. If you are on the main campus,
please go to any of these BGSU Registration Sites with your BGSU ID. An ITS employee will help you start the process and authorize your account. At Firelands Campus, please
visit the Main Lab in room 231 North for assistance. If you are not on campus, please contact the TSC and a staff member will assist you.
First Time You Can Use Your Account
After you complete the registration process, your BGSU e-mail account is created in approximately one hour. You will also use your BGSU account to login to the MyBGSU enterprise portal and that access is available as soon as your
BGSU account is created. The time when your access to eLearning (the Blackboard server) is available, however, may vary depending on the day and time your
BGSU account is created. Monday through Friday from 8:35 am - 5:35 pm, Blackboard accounts will be created hourly. At all other times, your Blackboard
account will not be created until the following morning. You will use the same Username and Password to access BGSU E-mail,
MyBGSU and eLearning.
Multi-User Accounts
Some departments and organizations require an e-mail account that is accessible by more than one person, such as choosebgsu@bgnet.bgsu.edu. This is called a multi-user account. A multi-user account allows more than one person to read and reply to messages sent
to the departmental address. To obtain this type of account, a departmental representative must complete agreement forms available online or in the TSC.
