General Directions for Printing to the Color LaserJet 4500

  1. Use the standard procedure for selecting the the print queue.
  2. All color laser printers can be identified by the word 'color' in the queue name. For example, the Tech Lab color laser queues are 'TECH COLOR MAC' and 'TECH COLOR PC'. Note that there are separate queues for Macintosh and IBM print jobs.
  3. Clients may request that the output be printed on either paper or transparency. To request transparency forms, users MUST select 'manual feed' as the paper source if possible. Clients will not be able to do this on IBM systems or when printing from certain Macintosh applications (e.g. Pagemaker).
  4. Jobs are held on pause at the printer queue until the client identifies them.
  5. Clients show their BGSU ID to the computer lab employee on duty, tell the employee what media to use for printing (paper or transparency), and indicate the account to be charged (personal or department).
  6. The employee will then change the priority on the job so it is the next job to be printed.
  7. The employee will enter billing information. This process takes only a few minutes. The total charges per day for color printing will appear on client's bursar bills.
