Within Digital Services, the Document Imaging Management (DIM) department has been using the latest technology to help reduce
the cost for document storage and printing while maintaining the usability of process documents, such as forms and applications.
Not only does DIM allow proper storage and organization of documents, it also permits a speedy retrieval.
The document imaging process consists of capturing a digital image of a document. Once the image(s) is saved, the document
is then indexed securely into a database known as OnBase. Developed by Highland Software Solutions, OnBase is an all-in-one
content management program that enables scanning, printing, e-mailing, and organizing.
DIM has already implemented the capabilities of OnBase with thousands of documents. Projected in the upcoming years, Chad
Brandeberry, the Digital Services manager, and his staff have been working hard to try to eliminate the use of file cabinets
and have all BGSU’s records documented and imaged.
