Contemporary Printmaking Project
Bowling Green State University’s Digital Media Resource Center and Janet Ballweg - Professor of Art and Head of Printmaking are creating an online, searchable database for Contemporary Printmaking that will be free to the public via the internet.

Our purpose in designing this database is to provide one key site that makes the work of professional printmakers accessible for research and teaching purposes, as well as being available to curators, gallery directors, art consultants, and the general public.

The database website will be hosted on BGSU’s servers. The address of this site will be announced once it is available. We expect to “go live” with the site sometime in the beginning of 2008.

Who is eligible?
We are accepting submissions from professional printmakers (no student submissions, please) from October 1st through December 1st 2007 on a first-come first-serve basis.  The site will become available for viewing soon after that.

How to submit:

1. Each printmaker can submit up to 20 images with a maximum file size of 5Mb per image (total 100Mb per artist).
2. Digital images should be a minimum resolution of 300 dpi but no larger than 1200 dpi.  Either tif or jpg images are acceptable.
3. Please carefully name your images using the artist’s last name and the title of the print. For example, if Janet Ballweg submitted a piece called Breaking the Pattern, the file would be named: ballweg_breakingthepattern.tif.
4. If slides are provided in lieu of digital images, they will be scanned for you as 300 dpi tif files.
5. Each submission must be accompanied by a completed and signed Client Agreement Form.
6. Each submission must be accompanied by a completed Asset List.  Download the Asset List from the DMRC web site; fill it out and save it to a cd and send it along with your images or slides.
7. Please include complete contact information for the collection owner with your submission. Include first and last name, street address, phone number and email address.
8. A self-addressed, stamped envelope must be included if you wish to have your slides or CD returned.

Cost:
This is a pilot project, so at this time, there is no cost for inclusion in the database. BGSU will assume all costs for inputting your images and maintaining the database.
