For information on the GRE/GMAT/PRAXIS/TOEFL tests, visit the Educational Testing Service web site. The Graduate College does not require specific minimal Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores for acceptance into graduate programs.  However, individual programs on campus that require the GRE often set their own minimal scores.  Graduate programs that require the GRE utilize the test results as one indicator of the potential for success in graduate studies.   Graduate program applicants should therefore approach the prospect of taking the GRE seriously, knowing that their scores will be considered in admissions decisions.

International students: The Center for International Programs is responsible for coordinating your admission and orientation. The staff at the Center for International Programs will be glad to assist you in any way. Please send all your admission materials to:

International Student English Requirements.  International students should be aware that BGSU requires a minimum level of English language competency as part of all its graduate degree programs.  All students whose first language is not English are required to take a placement test.  (For more information about English as a Second Language (ESL) placement tests, please visit the ESL web site.)  The results of this test will be used to determine whether a student will be required to complete additional ESL courses.   NOTE: ESL courses are not always included in Graduate Assistantships and may require payment of additional fees to enroll.  In general, most students whose composite TOEFL score is below 95 will be required to take additional ESL writing courses and those with speaking scores below 28 will be required to take additional speaking courses.  For a full list of ESL courses, see the ESL web site.

There is no application fee. The student is not limited to the number of credit hours taken at BGSU; however, only 9 graduate credit hours will transfer to a graduate degree program.
