NOTE: The GSO Registration Form will be active June 15 to July 15
Registrations submitted before June 15th are in TEST MODE only and will not be accepted for GSO registration.
Online registration is greatly appreciated, but if you miss the deadline - no problem! We will be registering walk-ins at GSO Check-In on:
Sunday, August 12, 2012 between 2:00 - 4:00 PM
Monday, August 13, 2012 between 8:00 - 9:30 AM
If you will be receiving an assistantship contract and have not previously completed Graduate Student Orientation (GSO) you are required to complete the GSO sessions scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, plus your departmental programming activities. The session registration form is set up so the sessions are pre-scheduled for you based on your type of assistantship. The Tuesday afternoon sessions are also mandatory, but you are allowed to select which time you would like to participate in which session. Please refer to the Mandatory Training page for complete details for the online training modules. These online training modules are accessible from your home computer and can be complete at any time prior to arrival for GSO.Sessions for both Monday and Tuesday are determined for each participant based on their assistantship. If you are not receiving an assistantship please indicate if you want to attend the teaching-based, research-based, or administrative based sessions for Tuesday.
As a part of the building strength initiative, all incoming graduate students from Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Geography, Geology, Mathematics & Statistics, Physics & Astronomy, Psychology, and Sociology must register for and complete the on-line Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training session prior to GSO week. In addition to students from these departments, all research assistants must register for and complete the on-line Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training session prior to GSO week. During GSO week, the research assistant track will include a two–hour supplementary session, facilitated by Dr. Hillary Harms, which will cover the RCR modules in more details. Information is available on the Office of Research Compliance website at http://www.bgsu.edu/offices/orc/page110533.html
GA's who hold Residence Life or Greek Life assignments are required to attend GSO. The schedule for 2012 has been designed to ensure that the orientation information will be relevant to your assistantship and not be redundant with your other training.
Also take time to review your departmental programming. The departmental schedules will be e-mailed to you by June 15th and are available online. Contact your DL if you have not received this information by July 1st.
If you are receiving an assistantship and are unsure of your assistantship assignment you should check with your Graduate Coordinator before completing this form.
