The College of Arts and Sciences helps prepare students for meaningful careers and productive lives. Part of this preparation includes receiving a well-rounded education in the sciences, social sciences, arts and humanities, while engaging curiosity, creativity and critical thinking skills that help develop successful, engaged world citizens. With more than 100 areas of study in 32 departments, the Arts and Sciences is BGSU's largest college. Support for the College of Arts & Sciences can be directed to programs that promote faculty research, bolster experiential learning opportunities for students, offer critical scholarship support, and more.  

Your gift helps ensure that students in the college benefit from the rich, liberal arts curriculum that encourages self- and community transformation to serve the public good.

Fund Designations

Arts Village - Arts Village is a residential learning community that involves exploring all aspects of the arts and sharing views with one another and faculty of various disciplines. This fund provides resources to support the programming and learning opportunities for students participating in this living-learning community.

Center for Family and Demographic Research Fund - The Center for Family and Demographic Research Fund enhances the mission and program of the center and assists students with travel and research activities.

College of Arts and Sciences Gap Scholarship Fund – For most students, there is gap between the total cost of attendance and the amounts provided by financial aid programs and parental support. From modest book scholarships to housing support to tuition reimbursement, gap scholarships help students reach graduation.

College of Arts and Sciences General Support Fund – The college’s general support fund allows Arts & Sciences leadership to pivot and innovate, and supports both students and programming as opportunities and needs arise.

College of Arts and Sciences Fund for Experiential Learning and Student Success  This fund provides critical support for students studying within the College of Arts and Sciences as they pursue experiential learning opportunities such as study abroad/study away, student training and workshops, internship and co-op experiences, and beyond.

Edward C. Sewell Memorial Scholarship - The Edward C. Sewell Memorial Scholarship honors a passionate alumnus and invests in the development of artists with underrepresented viewpoints.

Galen and Katja Koepke Study Abroad Scholarship - The Galen and Katja Kopke Study Abroad Scholarship supports students studying in Salzburg, Austria, with BGSU’s Salzburg Academic Year Abroad Program.

Global Village - The Global Village Learning Community offers students of all majors opportunities to meet and learn about people from other countries and cultures. Gifts to this fund support programming to enhance the experience of this living-learning community.

Great Lakes and Watershed Studies Support Fund - BGSU faculty and students are working to find solutions for the complex problems facing Lake Erie. Through the fusion of classroom and laboratory lessons, discoveries made have potential global impact. Your contribution will aid scientific inquiry and investigation to serve the public good.

ICS Activities Fund - The Institute for the Study of Culture and Society (ICS) has a distinguished history at BGSU for supporting cutting-edge interdisciplinary humanistic scholarship, through visiting speaker series, the Faculty Fellowship program, research clusters, and other activities.

La Comunidad - La Comunidad is a living-learning community for all students who are passionate for the Spanish-speaking world. The La Comunidad fund supports programming to enhance the Spanish-immersive experience for participating students.

Medici Circle - Formed in 1980, the Medici Circle group has been fostering excellence in the BGSU School of Art and funding a wide range of student-centered activities that compliment the traditional classroom experience.

Rex Lowe Biological Sciences Graduate Student Fund - This fund will support graduate students in the aquatic sciences and honor the lifetime contributions Dr. Rex Lowe has made to his students, the University and aquatic biology these past 50 years.

Stuart R. Givens Memorial Fellowship - The Givens Fellowship recognizes resourcefulness, imagination and significant ability among Bowling Green State University undergraduate students by supporting self-designed, off-campus experiences that will enable them to pursue passionate interests in a manner not otherwise possible through an academic program, regular summer job, enrichment program or organized study abroad program.

University Arts Scholarship Fund - The University Arts Scholarships are as diverse as the students who receive them to further their education and training. Whether they are actors, painters, ceramists, dancers, musicians or writers, your support will help the most deserving artists across disciplines have the opportunity to contribute to the public good through the arts.
