EDUCATION ABROAD

SAFTEY, SECURITY & HEALTH

  Student Conduct and Liability

While abroad, students are subject to the disciplinary regulations of their host university or program, as well as to the laws of their host country. Bowling Green students bear responsibility to the Bowling Green State University Code of Student Conduct while studying abroad. Records of any disciplinary actions taken overseas become part of a student’s file at BGSU and are communicated to the BGSU Associate Dean of Students.

Students need to be aware that violation of host country laws will make them liable to legal proceedings within the judicial systems that may be very different from those of the United States. No student should contemplate the distribution or use of illegal drugs, the penalties for which may be extremely strict.

Any student who poses the threat of danger to himself/herself or anyone associated with the study abroad program or university risks being sent home before the program ends.
