The specialization in Sport Administration addresses the planning, organizational, leadership, and evaluative aspects of management within the sport enterprises by holding the institution of sport to a high level of inquiry and serious scientific scrutiny. Students work with their advisors to complete a series of courses in the sport administration program and in a variety of other disciplines related to their academic interests and goals, and this includes: business administration, marketing, mass communication, higher education administration, interpersonal communication, and psychosocial foundations of sport. All students in sport administration complete either a thesis or a project. The program is planned over two continuous years of study. Bowling Green State University has received specialized accreditation for its sport management program through the Commission on Sport Management Education (COSMA) located in Reston, Virginia.
The sport management programs in the following degrees are accredited by COSMA:
- Bachelor of Science in Education, Sport Management Program
- Master of Science in Education, Sport Administration specialization
Students work closely with their advisor in developing a focus of study, selecting courses, and deciding whether to complete a thesis or master's project.
