Graduate Assistantships

Types of Graduate Assistantships:

  • Teaching Assistant - Assist faculty in teaching courses for majors (e.g., assist grading, developing class materials, and leading discussion or lab sections)
  • Teaching Physical Activity Courses (e.g., basketball, swimming, and yoga)
  • Research Assistant - Work with faculty on their research in progress (e.g., assist collecting data, entering data into spreadsheets, or conducting literature searches)
  • Administrative Assistant - Work with a Program Coordinator on administrative tasks (e.g., assist with Human Movement, Sport & Leisure Studies website, work with the Sport Performance Team or Maxwell Sport Media Project)
Graduate Assistantship requirements:
  • Regular admission status to the Human Movement, Sport & Leisure Studies graduate program
  • Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher OR Graduate GPA of 3.0 or higher (for 9 or more credit hours)
  • Submission of the Graduate Assistantship Application by February 1
