Opportune Zongo , Ph.D. Associate Professor of Romance Languages, Women's Studies. Joint appointment with French. Member of the Women’s Studies Steering Committee. A past recipient of a Summer N.E.H, she is a reviewer for academic journals and actively participates in national and international conferences. She has served as interim director of the Women's Studies Program; coordinated and directed the University Spring and Summer Francophone culture modules in Burkina Faso; served as the on-site director of the Academic Year Abroad Programs in Tours, France; and is the on-campus director of its Academic Year Abroad Programs in Tours, France, Burkina Faso, and Quebec.

Education: B.A., Universite de Ouagadougou; M.A., Ph.D., University of California at Santa Cruz.

Courses taught: African Women, African Women Writers, Introduction to Women’s Studies, Literature & Revolution, and French.
