1983- Graduated High School
1985- Returned from L.A. to help his mother, Cathy Hughes, at
   WOL-AM in Washington, D.C.          as a sales rep
1988- Became General Sales Manager for two stations that his mother owned

1999- Radio One purchased 12 stations from ClearChannel becoming the seventh largest radio company in the nation
2000- Radio One acquired over 20 stations further increasing its size
Radio One
Started by Cathy Hughes in the 1980 purchase of WOL-AM
Since then, Radio One has grown into one of the Top 5 radio companies in the nation. This does not seem to be anything too special. But….

Radio One owns over 60 stations and every one is of an urban format striving to bring equality to radio broadcasting
Radio One reaches around 12.5 million listeners weekly despite not having stations in New York, Chicago, or San Francisco
New Ventures
Alfred Liggins, in conjunction with Comcast Cable, is set to launch a cable network focusing on black programming
It will be different from BET, though, in an effort to give even more entertainment choices
 The target age is 25-55
