MTV NEWS AND BET NEWS

The media is responsible for delivering accurate and precise information to the public, without letting there own personal views affect the content. Although most would agree that the media uses its own personal view therefore, leaving the people without any true publicity. The media is seen as either as a friend or an enemy to a candidate running for office. While all news outlets claim to live up to this creed, many of them do not succeed.
For example, BET News and MTV News have been running ads for the “Citizen Change” campaign; it is lead by hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons and pop star P.Diddy as an effort targeted mostly at inner city youth. Although “Citizen Change” advertises itself as a non-partisan, non-profit organization with a mission to educate, motivate and empower millions of young Americans to access their power to vote. Their slogan “Vote or Die”, is a very popular and appealing to the hip-hop community. With all this said, you automatically associate them with the Democratic Party. The major issues that the campaign addresses are jobs, education, and health insurance, all important issues to the Democratic Party.
On the other hand the Republican Party is more concerned with the issue of terrorism, abortion, and the war in Iraq. This is exactly what “Smack down Your Vote” and “Voto Latino” campaign talks about in their issues. Both campaigns on their websites claim to be a non-partisan, non-profit organization whose main concern is getting young people to vote. When you visit the “Voto Latino” website it is religious figures surrounding the issue of abortion. Most of the Latino population has a Catholic background and in Catholicism abortion is looked down upon. On the “Smack down Your Vote” website there are country musicians and pictures of Bush kissing babies. This is clearly a website designated for Bush lovers.
