Effects on Children

With war coverage in newspapers, magazines, the news and the Internet, how could a childnot find it? It is simply everywhere we look. Children shouldn't see some of the things shown in the media. Some people may find the graphic footage and pictures offensive and not appropriate for broadcasting. Studies have shown that children that are exposed to violent content have some sort of problems later in life. In today's world how could a child not find some violent content about the war? Some of the things in the media should be censored to an extent for children and young adults' sake.

There is way too much war coverage of negative events and makes some wonder why we are over there because all we hear of is casualties, bombings and riots. The media needs to do coverage of our soldiers training Iraqi's for their own forces, the jobs our soldiers give the Iraqi's and oursoldiers feeding and playing with Iraqi children. You go to look at the morning newspaper and what do you see? What bomb landed where and detailed reports of more casualties. You turn on the television and what do you see? That's right, more war coverage. It'severywhere. Some television stations like CNN go around the clock with war coverage. One CNN broadcast lasted 72 hours and it was non-stop war coverage. (mrcranky) Who wants to watch news about the war for 72 hours? Plenty of news stations have dedicated entire channels to report about the war. CNN, MSNBC, FOX NEWS, AL-JAZEER, ABC, NBC and CBS all have stations that report on the war around the clock. Everywhere you look you see news about the war and a majority of it does not show the good that our soldiers are doing over there.

Negative effects of all the war coverage are all around us. It is in our everyday life. Newspapers, magazines, news stations and the Internet all have too much war coverage. Whether the coverage should go down or be censored more, something needs to happen. The war is talked about way too much. The media should do everyone a favor and not report so much on the negatives of war but rather the positives of our soldier's presence in Iraq.

There is also the topic of people not agreeing sending journalist and reporters into harms way when really they do not HAVE to be over there, however the soldiers do. It is a controversial topic if it is a moral and right thing to do, to send reporters over there to risk their life just for a story! If anything, they should train soldiers how to do broadcast's and in the end viewers would get a more well rounded view of the War in Iraq both positive factors and negative! Is a story really worth the life of someone who does not HAVE to be over there? Guess that is just entertainment!
