Review the lecture notes with thorough understanding
Fill in details in each presentation slide with the textbook (except those that were not in the textbook)
Read the textbook chapter according to the course outline before the class so that you can raise questions
Ask the instructor what you could not follow or understand in the book or lectures
Review the past quiz questions and learn from previous mistakes (esp. important for exams because exams will use some of the quiz questions in the past)
Understand the sequence of major events during the evolution of the media technology in each chapter and the trends
Remember the key representatives/leaders (people or companies) in the media topic/trend
Know the characteristics and differences among media technologies and media trends
Identify the reasons for the rise of a phenomenon or trend
Make full use of the question box (especially on Mondays so that I can answer the question on Wednesday if not earlier)
Don’ts
Memorize the dates, details of the history and statistics numbers
Memorize word for word in the lecture notes without understanding the meaning
Decide an answer without careful thinking and checking of the questions
Rush to turn in the answer sheet
