of our alumni. With such a high post-college placement rate,
the career possibilities are endless. Please take a moment

Alumni Industry Advocate Advisory Board
On May 9, 2007, the inaugural meeting of the TCOM Alumni Board
met in West Hall. Some members joined by phone. General plans
were discussed and plans were made to meet again on the Friday
before Homecoming [see
schedule of events]. If you are an alumnus and interested

Brittany Barhite, 2005
Brittany graduated with honors in 2005. She majored in
telecommunications with a minor in political science.
She is currently working towards her masters in communication,
while working full time as the marketing and promotions
manager at Cumulus Broadcasting in Toledo. You can also
hear Brittany live on Star 105.5 during the weekends.

Paul Braun, 1977
Paul Braun is the Vice President of Programming and
Public Affairs for the National Division of Time Warner
Cable, a management group of unclustered cable systems,
representing approximately 450,000 subscribers in 20
states. Paul is on the selection committee for the Tony
Cox Grant Fund for Cable Positive, the industry's HIV/AIDS
awareness group and winner of the organization’s
Brad Wojcoski Memorial award. He has also been on the
Board of Governors of the National Academy of Cable
Programming. In addition to a Masters in Radio, TV and
Film from Bowling Green, he holds an MBA from the University
of Denver. In 2002, he received the Best Accomplished
Graduate Award from the BGSU TCOM Department.

Tom Farmer, 1984
Vice-president and Executive Producer, Fox Sports Network
Ohio. Tom is responsible for the overall on-air presentation of FSN Ohio while also managing the day-to-day production and operations of the network. He also retained his Executive Producer position and continues to lead FSN Ohio productions into multiple distribution platforms. Entering his 14th year there, Tom continues to earn the television industry’s praise having garnered his 25th regional Emmy award earlier this month.

Ryan is a Major Gift Officer at BGSU.

Mark J. Geyman, 1981
Mark is the owner of OhioBiz at OhioBiz.com, created one
of the first "locally/regionally-focused" search directories
in the country, back in 1995. It evolved into SitesOnline
Ohio and later in 2000 became OhioBiz - The Ohio Business
Search Directory. His web consulting firm, OhioBiz Web
Consulting, LLC, has been in existence since March 2001
and specializes in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and
Marketing, and Website Maintenance and Consulting for
small to medium-size businesses and organizations.

Nikki Golden, 2004
Nikki is employed with the Walt Disney Company in Cleveland
as a Promotions Manager. She feels the joy and magic of
placing a smile on someone's face, regardless of age!
Nikki is a 2004 graduate of BGSU with a degree in Telecommunications.
She also enjoys working in the community, spreading the
magic and making sure everyone has "A Magical Day!"

David Hainline, 1983
After one year of Law School, David moved to Washington
DC to begin his career in the broadcasting industry. David
has worked for Viacom, Emmis Broadcasting, ABC/Cap Cities
and Infinity CBS in various sales and management positions.
He retired as National Sales Manager for the #1 billing
station in Washington, D.C. where he sold and managed
all national accounts totaling over 12 million dollars
for Infinity Broadcasting. Hainline now serves as President
of CSI-Capitol Services Inc., a self-owned special event
and meeting planning company. He has donated two scholarships
to the Department of Telecommunications to benefit students
with financial needs and is the organizer of the BG@100
fund-raising event. He also offers a paid internship to
BGSU students every semester to work in CSI-Capitol Services
Inc.

Kellie Holeman-Szenderski, 1983
A Cincinnati native and 1983 Bowling Green graduate, Kellie
started her professional career in Toledo, Ohio at Fahlgren
Advertising, formerly Fahlgren & Ferris, as an Account
Executive. In 1985, she continued her career at
McDonald’s Corporation as a Regional Marketing Supervisor
for 7 years. For the last 15 years, she has enjoyed
a media sales career at Clear Channel Broadcasting and
now serves as the Director of Sales for the five station
cluster. Kellie has been married for 22 years to
Kevin, and they have two children, Morgan 19 and Jacob
16. In her spare time Kellie enjoys walking, golfing
and traveling.

Stephen Kendall, 1985
Stephen is an instructor in the Department of Telecommunications
as well as the Director of the Student Technology Center
at BGSU.

David Kennedy, 1976, 1981
David is the CEO/Vice Chairman of Interep National Radio
Sales in New York. Interep (IREP.PK) is the nation's
largest independent advertising sales and marketing
company specializing in radio, the Internet, television
and complementary media, with offices in 17 cities.
During the 1970s, David held various radio positions
at WMHE and WLQR until being promoted to Director of
Program Research for Susquehanna Radio Corp. In August
of 1989, he was named Senior Vice President and assumed
direct responsibility for WFMS, Indianapolis, and WRRM,
Cincinnati, while managing group planning and research
operations for all Susquehanna stations. David has actively
participated in, and received numerous accolades from,
the National Association of Broadcasters, Radio Advertising
Bureau, John Bayliss Broadcast Foundation, and the Library
of American Broadcasting Foundation among many others.

Kelli Kling, 1992
Kelli served as Program Director and Operations Manager
for WFAL-AM as well as DJ for WBGU-FM. While earning a
Master of Education in Technology from BGSU, she focused
her attention on a new course about the "Internet
and World Wide Web" and is currently one of the instructors
of this course in the Department of TCOM. Professionally,
Kelli is the Director of Marketing, PR, and Special Events
for the Wood County Historical Center & Museum in
Bowling Green, OH, and serves on various boards throughout
the community such as the Black Swamp Arts Festival, BG
Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Main Street Bowling
Green.

Joe Philport, 1975
Joe is the President & CEO for the Traffic Audit Bureau
(TAB) for Media Measurement, Inc. He joined TAB in 2002
to lead the implementation and development of out of home
audits and audience measurement initiatives. Prior to
joining TAB, Joe held senior positions at Competitive
Media Reporting, Arbitron and Nielsen and served as Worldwide
Media Research Director at Young & Rubicam. He co-chaired
ARF/ESOMAR's Out of Home Media Measurement Day as part
of the Worldwide Audience Measurement Conference in Geneva,
June 2004. Co-authored with Erwin Ephron, his white paper
entitled "The Creative Heresy in Out of Home Audience
Measurement," won the Best Paper Award at ARF/ESOMAR's
2005 Out of Home Measurement Day in Montreal. Joe has
a PhD in Media Communications and began his career in
academics at Miami University and the University of Maryland.

Patricia Silver, 1976
President, Sphere Entertainment.
Pat's strong broadcasting career expanded into the creation
of the Sphere Entertainment agency in 1980, which has
grown to represent 2000 artists for bookings worldwide
at theatres, festivals, fairs, municipal celebrations,
parties, corporate events and malls. Sphere is a major
producer of licensed TV character live shows in North
America. Sphere is single-handedly responsible for the
artistic survival of many of Canada's outstanding performing
artists. Pat has been nominated for a Juno Award, certified
with a Gold Record, and won many arts awards. Her book,
Face Painting, was a best-seller and sells well
worldwide. She was nominated for the prestigious "Toronto
Sun Women on the Move" award, serves on many industry
boards, is the International Representative to the Children's
Entertainment, and has been recognized for important community
contributions from many organizations.
